Vocabulary isn't a list.
It's a map.

Lexplorium is a new way to build vocabulary in another language: explore how words connect, and choose the ones you want to study.

Learn words the way your brain wants you to

Lexplorium is built on four things we know about memory and language.

High-frequency first

The most frequent words aren’t just the most useful. They also get the strongest reinforcement, because you meet them every time you read, listen or speak. Starting there gets you further, faster. That’s why Lexplorium ranks what’s worth learning first, and queues the most useful words next.

Words keep company

Memory is an associative web, not an alphabetical list. Learn a word alongside others on the same subject, and it’s anchored by links that a word learned alone never gets. Lexplorium lays those connections out as a map you can navigate, where every word leads to the next.

Speak your truth

Language is easier to learn when it expresses what matters to you: your interests, your work, your daily life. Look up any word, and the map opens right where you want to start.

Fluency comes in chunks

Native speakers don’t build sentences one word at a time. Around half of everyday language is ready-made: phrasal verbs, idioms, set expressions. Their meaning isn’t the sum of their parts, so they need to be learned whole. Lexplorium is designed to treat them as complete units.

It's just the start.

Exploring the map is where learning begins.

For serious learners

Measured by the words you keep, not the days in a row. A calm and engaging tool for learners who want their vocabulary to grow, and stay.

You choose what to study

Follow the connections that interest you and keep the words worth keeping. Curiosity does the heavy lifting.

The tools to remember

Type your answers rather than flipping cards. Small typos and good synonyms still count. Each word comes back just as you’re about to forget it, and stays until it’s truly yours.

Next words that fit you

Lexplorium follows your study list and suggests the words that match your level.

Your world in every sentence Coming

Tell Lexplorium about your work, your interests and what’s on your mind, and the example sentences and suggested words will lean towards them.

Beyond single words Coming

Phrasal verbs, idioms and set expressions, on the map and in your reviews, as units of their own.

Questions & answers

What is Lexplorium?

A vocabulary-learning tool built around a map of meaning. Search any word and you’ll see the words around it. Follow the ones that interest you, and add the ones worth keeping to your study list, where spaced repetition makes them stick.

Who is it for?

Learners who are serious about their vocabulary: self-directed, curious, and after results rather than streaks. It works at any level: you’re in control of your study list, and Lexplorium adapts to where you are.

Which languages can I learn with Lexplorium?

English, for now. Want to learn a different language? Tell us which one.

Translations and example-sentence translations are available in 14 languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, Indonesian, Arabic, German, Turkish and Italian.

Is it free?

Yes. Exploring the map is free and needs no account, and a free account lets you study. A premium tier will follow, and some of the features on the way may be reserved for it.

How do I start?

Open the map and search for any word, then follow the connections. When a word is worth keeping, star it, then start studying it from your dashboard. No need to sign up first: if you don’t have an account yet, you’ll be asked to create one when you star your first word.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Lexplorium runs in your browser, on desktop and mobile. Pronunciation uses your device’s text-to-speech, so installing an English voice gives the best results.

How is it different from flashcard apps?

You don’t need to find or build a deck. Words come from the map, ordered by how often they’re really used, with translations, example sentences and pronunciation ready. Reviews ask you to recall the word, not just recognise it.
