These terms apply when you use Lexplorium (“we”, “us”, “platform”), whether in the app at app.lexplorium.com or on this website. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

Your account

Lexplorium helps you explore and study English vocabulary. Certain parts of the platform require registering a user account to access.

An account is intended for use by one person. If you are under 16, you may use Lexplorium with the consent of a parent or guardian (see the Privacy Policy).

Free and paid plans

You can study on the platform for free within certain limits that are subject to change without prior notice.

Premium access, once available, removes the limitations free accounts may have and offers additional benefits unavailable to free accounts.

Certain caps may have pedagogical justifications and apply to both free and premium accounts.

How the content is made

Word connections on the map are mathematically derived from a large body of linguistic content. They reflect linguistic and mathematical data points: patterns in how words are used. They don’t tell you how synonymous two words are, and they don’t represent the views of Lexplorium or anyone else. While we do our best to curate the data, it is impossible to vet every individual connection among hundreds of thousands of word pairs.

Translations, sample sentences and accepted answers are produced automatically and in a majority of cases are not individually curated. They may contain mistakes.

The study content on the platform should be considered a work in progress, and we welcome your feedback through the flagging and feedback tools available throughout the app.

Audio examples

Pronunciation audio is produced by your own browser or device, so how it sounds depends on the voices installed there. For the best results, make sure voices for your target language are installed on your device.

Reporting a problem

To report a word association on the map, a translation or a sentence, use the Feedback link under the word map or in the help menu, which works with or without an account, or the flag button on study content. We aim to keep improving the platform in every way and thrive on your feedback.

Fair use

Lexplorium is a platform for personal language learning. Please avoid:

• using scripts, bots or other automated means to access the platform’s content;
• republishing or reselling Lexplorium’s content, or reusing it for LLM training or in any other dataset;
• disrupting the service, probing it for vulnerabilities, or misusing the feedback and flag forms;
• using Lexplorium for anything unlawful.

We monitor activity on the platform for abuse. We may suspend or remove accounts, and block access to the platform, where these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.

Ownership

Lexplorium’s software, design, word list, word connections and generated content belong to us or to those who license material to us. You may use them for your own learning, and quoting individual words or sentences is fine. Copying the service or its content wholesale is not.

Anything you write in Lexplorium stays yours, such as synonyms, answers and feedback. You allow us to store and use it to run and improve the service.

Changes and availability

Lexplorium is a growing platform and it will keep changing. We may add, change or remove features. We can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. When we change these terms, we will update the date above, and we will notify account holders about significant changes.

Closing your account

You can stop using Lexplorium at any time. To delete your account and your study data, sign in and send a deletion request through the Feedback form. A request sent while you’re signed in is linked to your account, so we know it comes from you.

No guarantees

Lexplorium is provided as is. We do our best to make it accurate and useful, but we can’t guarantee any particular learning result, or that every connection, translation or sentence is correct. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
